This portion of www.njerhs.org is to provide an up to date progress of the restoration of North Jersey Electric Railway Historical Society's efforts on Public Service Car 2651.The trolley restoration work is being completed at this time by a group of volunteers. Work sessions are scheduled and this schedule can be found on our Events page. Anyone interested in helping with the work is welcome to join our organization in efforts to restore this New Jersey treasure. We would also welcome the opportunity to show as well as catalog any information or photographs some of our visitors may be willing to share. Allen Nelson works to remove the next roof panel.  We are working to remove and plan to replace the roof of 2651. Plans are to improve the edge of the roof to allow for better rain water run-off. The photo above shows the first panel has been removed at the "West-End" of the car. Photo date is Nov 2, 2002.

The photo above shows the clerestory on the north west side of the car. This location housed one of the ventilators. We are working to remove, clean, inspect, and repair all of the ventilators. Photo date is Nov. 2, 2002.
